Default Which Mini do I have? - 05-03-2011, 01:54 AM

I've had a Dell Mini 10 for about a year that I received as a gift. I haven't used it much, and have decided to sell it. However, I can't seem to figure out exactly which model it is, as it appears there are a myriad of Mini 10s. (I don't have the original packaging.) If you guys could please help me identify the model, I'd appreciate it. I'm a Mac guy, so when it comes to Dells I'm lost haha. Its specs...
  • Says 'N' Series on Sticker
  • Ubuntu as OS
  • Webcam and HDMI
  • 1GB RAM
  • 1.6GHz Atom Processor
  • Seems to have a 32GB SSD? Although it says 29GB when I pull up the HD specs on the command line, I'm assuming it's 29GB formatted...
  • Ref Number 08285

In no way am I soliciting a sale by posting this -- I know that's frowned upon in most forums. I'm just wondering if this is a Mini 10n or 1010 or what. Also, what would you expect this model to fetch on eBay?

Thanks for your help!

HDMI on a Mini 10 means it's a 1010.

N on a Dell usually means Not Windows.

A "32 GB" SSD will show up as "29.X GB", due to the difference between metric and binary GB. Metric is used in advertising, binary is traditionally used in file managers.

To find out the drive size for sure, run "sudo fdisk -lu" in a terminal window. It'll give you a listing of drives and the partitions on them. Look for a line like this: "Disk /dev/sdb: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes". Device name, size in metric GB, exact size.

As for price, aside from the SSD, your 1010 doesn't appeal to me at all. So, I wouldn't even offer you $200. I dunno about other people. $300 might be optimistic, but optimism is sometimes warranted.

Good luck.

Also, sale listings are allowed here, in the appropriate sub-forum.
