Default System Restore HELP! - 03-07-2011, 04:22 AM

Sorry if this has been posted (I looked and couldnt find it). But I have a Dell Mini 1010, that has been SLOW ever since I got it from Dell. Now getting a weird error message at start up.

All I want to do is just restore it to factory settings. I Hit f8 after the blue bar fills up it goes to the Advanced boot options menu i select repair computer hit enter then windows just starts normally. What am I doing wrong?

Are you running xp or vista. I have a dell mini with xp and I hit ctrl + F11 right after the dell logo ( as soon as the status bar bets to the and the next screen opens) I so often have to try several times before I can get it to work. I think F8 is for vista. Hope this helps

Default System Restore Incomplete - 02-05-2012, 06:23 PM

System Restore does not work on either my Mini 1010 or 1012.

Both came with System Restore not working properly. The entire process completes as it should but at the very end, when I should be at a restore point I get the message "system restore incomplete" - cannot restore to this point - try another.

Both systems are unable to restore to any restore points on the calender.

BOTH the 1010 and the 1012 came with this identical problem. Win XP on both systems; the 1010 came with XP Home SP3 and the 1012 is XP Pro SP3.
