Default Dell 1010 19s won't come out of hibernate - 12-28-2010, 07:27 PM

My mother-in-law has a Dell Mini 10 (Windows XP) that went into hibernation due to the battery being flat but won't come out of it now. When the power button is pressed, the white (power?) button comes on but the screen remains blank (as if it wasn't switched on).

I have tried holding in the power button to force a shutdwn and taking out the battery and with the power unplugged, pressing the power button is for 30 seconds but the problem remains.

I appreciate that this may be a common issue with this model but is there any way to get this to boot up into either a bootable USB or to just start a reboot with the hibernate/system state ignored.

thats weird, I have had a 1010 for over 1 1/2yrs and never had that happen and I have been on this board quite a while too and it is NOT a common problem......can you get into the BIOS at all?

Thanks for getting back to me and I missed this reply in my notifications.

I don't get a splash screen and am not sure how I can get into the BIOS.

Any advice would be appreciated.

P.S. Nice shoes!

Search the forums/Internet for "floppy bios", "floppy recovery", etc. I think the usual method for recovering from a fubar'ed BIOS involves a floppy drive, either real or emulated.
