Default Swapped SSD for HDD, cant install XP? - 12-28-2010, 06:51 PM

I have been trying to install a 64GB SSD (Integral 2.5" SATA II & USB) in place of the HDD in my Mini 10.

The operating system (Windows XP Home Ed, SP3) CD that was originally supplied with the unit has been run using an external CD drive. This installation process hangs up a short distance into the installation, with a error message.

Then I made (using Norton Ghost) a clone of the HDD onto the SDD, and tried to boot from this. The boot hangs up at an early stage.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I do not want to use a later version of Windows due to compatibility issues.

I have seen many complaints from 1010 owners saying that Windows XP will not recognize an SSD (multiple brands tried) during an install. It has something to do with the PATA-SATA bridge chip that the 1010 uses.
