Wink Dell Mini Inspiron 1010 USB ports not work - 09-22-2010, 02:00 AM

I have a Dell Inspiron Mini 1010. It has four USB ports, one on the right and three on the right. Only the first on the right side works. The others have never worked. They do not recognize any devices and will not power devices. The ports say they are active and do not have problems. What do I do to get these ports working???????

1st of all it only has 3 USB's, the one on the right closest to the headphone/microphone jack is NOT a USB it is an HDMI output jack for video.....the other 2 on the right and the one on the left should work fine....

Is your machine still under warranty? If so send it to dell and have them repair it. Has this machine been disassembled prior to you purchasing it? Someone may have forgotten to reconnect the cable for the USB ports on the left side of the machine.

Can you boot off a USB flash drive? (Like a Linux LiveUSB) Or a USB optical drive? If you can, the problem is OS/software.
