Default crackling sound without speakers - 05-19-2010, 12:38 PM

My Mini10 will crackle like frying bacon sometimes. Does it with the speakers off or on. Any ideas?

Are you sure it's coming from the speakers and not the HD? Is there a Nextel phone nearby?

I don't think it is coming from the speakers. No Nextel phone. It seems to do this when multiple apps load or the computer shuts down. What can I do to convince Dell its broken? I have sent it to Dell repair twice.

From that description, it's likely just normal HD noise. Some HDs are just noiser than others. You might check the BIOS settings and see if there is an option to change the HD accoustic mode to quiet.
