Default 1010 WWAN/GPS Question - 05-12-2010, 08:23 PM

Is the GPS in the 1010 part of the WWAN card? (and do all 1010s have the SIM slot, even if they didn't have the WWAN card from the factory?)

You probably found the answer but I 'd like to tell you that parts that allow you to upgrade your system (mini PCI-e slots, SIM slots, antenna/antenna's cables) are not included if the extra functions were not ordered. My not-3G mini 9 had no SIM slot, antenna/antenna's cables or mini PCI-e slot(before I solder one). My no-TV 1010 had stuck the BIOS-battery on the TV's mini PCI-e slot place on the motherboard(before...). I wouldn't cut any part ...of me to tell that a no-WWAN 1010 has not a SIM slot, but I 'm sure it doesn't.
GPS is in the Dell 5530(more correct Ericsson f3507g) WWAN modem. In my case I had to put an old, not working SIM to have the GPS enabled (before I get 3G connection and a "live" SIM), perhaps there are other ways.
Hope helped.
