Default If need 2 Gigs Ram why not get 1010 with Ubuntu then dual boot with O.S. of choice?? - 12-19-2009, 05:15 PM

Hi everyone.
I wanted 2 gigs of ram instead of 1 gig non upgradeable
with the mini 10. (1010)

BUT I want to Run Windows Xp Pro.

Well, as most of us know you can't buy a mini 10 with WIndows
AND 2gigs. It has to be Ubuntu.

So, why not if I need 2 Gigs Ram why not get 1010 with Ubuntu then
partition (probably a third partition, along with 1)Ubuntu, and 2)recovery)
it with Windows Xp Pro as the third parttion and download the drivers, or
why not reformat it and install Windows XP Pro SP3 and download the drivers?

This way you get your favorite OS on the mini 10 (1010) with
2 GIGS of ram!

I mean what's wrong with that? Anything?

Maybe your favorite OS. I prefer XP dead and buried

But yes, there's nothing stopping you from formatting the drive and installing whatever OS you want, including XP.

It's a lot cheaper to buy XP included than separately.

Maybe Windows 7 when I can afford it after that?
Hmm it's that good ?
But I bet my older games and applications would be fast
with Just Xp, and 2 Gigs

DO you suggest keeing the Ubuntu on it even if i've never used
Linux, since it does have the recovery partition with it which is good?

Should I get the HD screen?

WHat is the difference between a solid state HD and the
250 gig SATA? Certainly capacity!

What options should I get for optimum performance??

Currently i've selected:

So is your system the ultimate I can buy with a dell mini 10
