Angry weird problem with WWAN 5530 - 11-14-2009, 09:58 AM

hi, i have a weird problem with my mini 10 (1010)
160gb version, HDMI ,Bluetooth, WLAN, WWAN (dell 5530).

I live in greece, and i have a contract with GR Cosmote to access internet wirelesly, meaning over GPRS/3g/hspda.
My mini is Vodafone branded.
1) I first took a backup of the original HDD using Acronis (for just in case anything happens).
2) used an external USB DVD drive to install windows XPpro
3) updated with latest bios and
installed all missing devices using drivers from Dell
4) *used the Sonyericsson app to power on and use the WWAN adapter

Turned off my mini
inserted my SIM card
runned the software (sonyericsson)
enabled the device
typed my PIN
application shows i am logged to COSMOTE (my provider)
i press connect
wait for about 20secs and then says connection failed
tried setting it to GPRS/EDGE only
and connected in a sec working flowlesly (but slowly as hell)
disconected, switched to UMTS/HSPDA only
same problem, still can't connect..

Used a different SIM from WIND GR (other greek provider) which also has access to UMTS/hspda services over internet.
this time all options (GPRS EDGE UMTS HSDPA )worked flawlesly, and i found my self downloading files with about 70-130kB/sec
( so dell 5530 WWAN runs fine! , and seems to be unlocked to all networks)
re inserted my SIM card (cosmote GR) and tried again,
nopp nothing, still able to connect at GPRS but not able to connect in any 3g/umts/hspda mode ....

flashed bios to previous version cause noticed that the last one says something bout WWAN comunication improvement
still the problem remains,
using my card can't get 3g access, tried dialing it manualy using the modem
and said after trying to connect
error 734 PPP connection protocol terminated
if i turn on wireless manager again and set it to GPRS/EDGE only and close wireless manager, then i can connect through the DUN..

checked using a U-SIM as opposed to mine being a SIM. still problem exists..
*Using the same card in a PCMCIA modem, a Nokia N95-8G, Nokia N70,
and the USB modem provided my my carrier Hawei mf 636 works with UMTS and HSDPA.
*GPS works fine though althought
*even in Windows 7 the problem remains..

any advice ?

sorry for writing so much, but i tried to write as much possible info

just want to avoid the loss of my mini for ... who knows how long....
if any suggestion for taking out the original modem and changing it to something better exists, please feel free to say..

i am thinking of a compatibility issue between the 5530 WAN and my carrier Cosmote. tried to find a firmware for the modem, but with no luck (maybe it could improve something)
