Not without an external device to handle the conversion.

Yes. A simple cable won't work. HDMI is digital, RCA aka composite is analog. There is no analog signal in the HDMI connector.

There are few options for going from HDMI all the way down to composite. You'd be better off buying a new TV, IMO.

HDMI to Composite or S-Video Scaler is one example.

not to be the bearer of bad news.... BUT

I have a 10 and a flat screen TV. I was excited when I got the flat screen because of the HDMI out. Well, most things work pretty well, but don't expect movies to work well. I tried to stream Netflix and it pauses completely. In addition to this, I can't get audio to work. Although all fo this may just be a Windows 7 Ultimate issue

That being said, I have used it to type papers on a nice 32 inch screen... Very nice, indeed

Cheers,
Chris

Make sure you do a windows update and it should install the HDMI audio drivers, if if till doesnt work go onto sound settings and set hdmi out as the default sound system and it should work when plugged in.
