I have a 22" inch monitor from Acer (model X223HQ) and would like to use it as an external monitor for my Mini 10. But the monitor is VGA only (no DVI), and of course I don't have a VGA port on the netbook. Is there a way to get these two to play nicely together?

If I get a cable with HDMI on 1 end and VGA on the other, will it work? Is it simply a matter of connections, and will a dongle do the trick? Or do I need to spend $100 on a converter? Sorry if this is an easy question; I've searched all over and am getting conflicting reports, esp. from Dell. People keep telling me the major point is whether the video card is giving a VGA signal as well as DVI, but I can't seem to find that out.

Yes, you need a converter. HDMI is digital, VGA is analog. No cable will do the conversion by crossing or connecting the right wires.

For the cost of the converter, you might as well get a new monitor with an HDMI or DVI input, seems like a big wast of cash to get the converter. Monitors are so cheap nowadays it only makes sense, logically.
