I was forced to reboot in safe mode to uninstall the IEGD driver and revert back to the one provided by the latest windows update for GMA500.

I had no problems using similarly-produced GMA500 driver (IEGD) when my device had Windows XP on it. But on Windows 7, it's another thing.
Looks like your hardware requires some special driver configuration and generic IEGD driver won't work.

You can try this driver:
RapidShare Webhosting + Webspace

This is preconfigured IEGD driver, may work with your hardware and Win7. This one includes OpenGL support.

Loving this driver. Got it working on XP, and suddenly Quake Live works (framerate's a bit shoddy, but working is better than nothing), Morrowind works (same deal), and most importantly, Worms Armageddon, which means that Diablo 2, Starcraft, and Red Alert 2 should also work. Awesome awesome awesome.

Default This driver saves a lot of memory - 11-13-2009, 09:17 PM

My Mini10 uses 100 meg less memory with this driver. Before I was using 360 meg now I'm using 260 meg.

Default It works! - 11-19-2009, 04:14 PM

I followed the instructions by downloading 7zip and unpacking the files. I updated to the new driver and my mini is great! I have XP and I don't play games, however the fonts are much clearer and web pages are sharper! I love my mini, however I hated my display. Now I have no issues! Highly recommend for XP!

It just looks like you must have been running your display on non-native resolution It has nothing to do with the driver. Do you have HD screen? HD resolution is not enabled by default.
