My Dell Mini 10 with built in GPS loses satellites signals in rural areas away from WiFi signals and will not reconnect until I reconnect with WiFi either at destination or back home. On one trip it stayed connected for 500 miles through rural area without Wi Fi stations. Usually it loses satellites after I travel about 50 miles into rural area. Calls to Dell have not helped. Works great as long as I am in Metro areas. Dell literature states it should work anywhere all the time. Any suggestions or help? Thanks |

Do you have a different GPS to try alongside the 10? I'm thinking something free-standing like a garamin. See if that receives a signal when the mini can't and it will give you an indication of whether the issue is on the satellite end (poor signal quality) or whether it's the mini. The GPS on an iPhone uses a wifi-assisted system and the dell may operate in this way as well. |
