Default DW700 - GPS, WWAN or Both ? - 10-16-2009, 10:11 PM

Hi mates.

Ive just purchased a Refurb Mini10 with G/N Wireless and ATSC Tuner.

For my surprise it came with A DW700 card at the "right top" mini-slot with both GPS and WWAN writen on the label. I also have a Sim Slot at the battery compartment (it doesnt click, but the SIM enters and stays there).

Does it mean i have both GPS, WWAN, or even Both ? I didnt found a way to dial to my 3G network so i guess not.

Just today i discovered the ATSC Tuner is useless for me since i live outside-US - epic fail - but WWAN would be a GREAT plus that i wasnt expecting.

I found about a 5530 card at my searchs but ... would it replace the DW700 (if it isnt a WWAN) or the TV Tuner ? The sim slot would be connected to it somehow or the sim goes direcly inside the card ?

Thanks in advance.

The DW700 is the A-GPS card.

It is a little confusing as the WWAN slot and setup (antennas, etc) are therefore all there, but the DW700 occupies that PCIe slot.

If you wanted internal WWAN instead, you could probably remove the DW700 and buy a 5530 off e-bay; your sim card slot is likely active. I am thinking of the very same thing.

Hi mate, thanks for the feedback !

Can i remove the TV TUNER card and put the 5530 on it instead of removing the GPS ?

I dont know how/if the SIM SLOT is connected to any of the PCI-E Slots, theres an antenna cable at the GPS Card but i dont know where it goes.

Damn, too much information hah.
