Default memory upgrades for mini 10 - 10-08-2009, 01:20 AM

I just purchased a mini 10. I have seen the posts about upgrading the memory in the 10v. Can the same process be used for the 10? If I can't find a way to upgrade the memory in this unit, I'm seriously considering returning it. I have the bluetooth and gps options installed.

No, you can't upgrade it. The memory is soldered onto a daughterboard with the processor.

You can get it with 2gb if you order it with Vista on it.just delete Vista when you get it and load Win XP or Win 7 also there have been rumors floating around that Dell may eventually release a daughter board upgrade for of us who bought it with 1gb..the 10v may be good but you cant get the TV tuner or the HD 1366x768 screen and I think there are other differences also ..

PS: I got mine back in Late July and have it maxed out with every option that Dell had available then (except GPS) and I never have really needed anymore than 1gb & 1.66mhz...if I do I just use my huge HP 17" with dual Pentium 4 3.2ghz processors for all the real intensive stuff but at 10 pounds but its just too damn heavy to cart around everyday besides the battery on the HP lasts about 1/2 hour where I get over 6 hours on the Dell

I have Win7 on my 10, and really does alright with 1GB, other than I don't care for it idling at 60ish% mem usage.
I hope they do release a upgrade for it, otherwise I'm glad I bought it via Outlet and not new lol.
