I have just got a Dell Mini 10 with ubuntu 8.04. I'm trying to set up Skype and have had no success.
I have read a zillion forum threams that discuss similar issues but it's never with exactly the same spec i.e ubuntu 9 or the mini 9 and so those solutions dont seem to work on my mini 10.
I have downloaded "skype-ubuntu-hardy_2.1.0.47-1.deb" but when I try to install it with the gdebi package 0.3.8netbook1 it tells me it has failed with a blank terminal below with no report as to why. (I did once get a report saying something about the i348 and the lpia architecture but didn't write it down and haven't been able to get the same report again)
I am new to ubuntu and only discovered what the "terminal" does today!!!!
so if there is anyone out there using skpe on the same model and version of ubuntu as me then pleeeeeease tell me how you did it in very simple language. I would be most grateful for anyone's help!
(desperate and considering reverting back to windows)

I have just tried to install again and got the report back it says:
dpkg - warning, overrinding problem because --force enabled:
package architecture (i386) does not match system (lpia)
(Reading database ... dpkg: error processing /home/marion/desktop/skype-ubuntu-hardy_2.1.0.47-1_386.deb (--install):
files list file for package 'libxcb-shape0' is missing final newline
Don't have a clue what this all means - anyone fancy a challenge?
