Default Windows 7 just got an update for Intel 500 - 09-25-2009, 02:44 AM

The update just came up today and hasn't been there before now. The drive has a date of 8/27/2009 and is version 8.14.10.2011

Where can we get the driver from? Can you upload it somewhere? any increase in performance for 720p and 1080p?

EDIT:
Found this on another forum!

Alright, just updated the driver in Windows 7 to the newest version 8.14.10.2011 (31.08.2009) provided by Microsoft.
The black area repaint problem after the UAC dialog seems to have gone. DWM/Aero seems snappier. Very slight improvement of the CrystalMark figures compared to 1006:
GDI: 1864 -> 1914
D2D: 779 -> 865
OGL: 276 -> 283 (still no acceleration here)

I have a novice question. Would the performance of the new GMA 500 driver be influenced by the available memory of the computer? For example 2GB versus 1GB? The video shares this memory, correct? I notice the weak performance of the video mostly when using Google Earth. Was considering getting a Mini 10 with the built-in 2GB/Vista and upgrading to Win7 if anyone thinks the additional 1GB would improve the performance. Or maybe it's just "it is what it is" regardless of how much system memory.

No one has said exactly what will happen with 7 and the 1010. But if I were you I would wait until they make 1010's with Win 7 (and 2megs). Should not be too far in the future with the release of 7 comming so soon.
I enjoy the heck out of my little 1010; and plan on using it until they really make something that is much better. What I see on the market now is not really worth the price of admission to change from the 1010. I have a windows (XP) on it and I have a Linux (9.04) on it. Of course I have a regular Laptop and a regular Desktop; so the 1010 fills the role of a NETBOOK and I don't rely on it for all my computing needs. It is good at what it does and that is all that really matters. IF the system fullfills the needs you have then its a good buy at any price.
