Yes, you're right, it work out of the box and this is very good! Better this thank nothing... If you want you can try Mandriva, it have GMA500 support integrated too.

However I don't have the webpage rendering problem in my XP... This is the reason of my critics about Jolicloud driver... Now I understand why it seems to you not too bad!

No, I haven't tried... I can't find reasons to use Linux instead WinXP until now... Because under XP i have video decoding acceleration and better performance...

Which jolicloud build should one use? I found two non-express install variants, the robby build and the prebeta one. Any recs? I plan on doing this fairly soon.

You're basing this comment on Pre-Beta software. I would highly suggest reading what they have done to customise the standard Ubuntu distro. From what I gather from their website they have employed the use of a separate DRI for GMA500 netbooks to get it running at a decent, but not entirely perfect speed on the GMA500!!!

Oh, btw, Intel don't develop the drivers for the GMA500. Tungsten Graphics create the drivers and the core is a PowerVR core from Imagination Technologies. That's why there will never be a Linux driver for the GMA500 from Intel.

Thanks for the link to the Jolicloud explanation on how they implimented the GMA 500 drivers. I have been following GMA 500 since I purchased my Mini 1010 almost 7 months ago. The list of Linux distro's I have tried is pretty extensive. Its nice to finally realize their is some hard progress in getting Linux to work on the 1010; and that several companies are working on the problem.
I duel boot my 1010 into XP and 9.04; but I also have Fedora 11, Mandriva 2010 and 9.10 installed onto SD/hc cards and flash drives (USB). I have found it best to install to the external drives for testing before installing it to the hard drive. Thank to your posting of the link I will now add Jolicloud to my list of distro's to try. I finally got Debian to work on my mini-10 with GMA 500 poulsbo driver.
