Default Update kernel 15 - 08-21-2009, 11:03 PM

I have been getting requests from the system to update to kernel 15, has anyone who has installed the drivers for GMA500 updated to kernel 15. the reason I ask is the last time I updated from 13 to 14, (9.04) the system no longer recognized the drivers to get the correct resolution etc to operate correctly.
Before I click the OK to upgrade I would like to be sure it won't happen again. Are you out there Sammyboy. fdalbor:confused

No Problem.
When you restart after the update you will get a DRM error message. Just boot in low-graphics mode and remove and reinstall the package "psb-kernel-source". no need to reboot after removing. just first remove this package and afterwards reinstall it. then reboot and everything should work.

greetings

Thanks for the information. I do have a small problem. While I have installed many items with apt-get; what is the command to remove.
I know I use sudo apt-get install psb-kernel-source to put it back in; what do you use to remove it. fdalbor

Thanks for your efforts again Sammyboy. I went to the terminal and typed in the code; but got an error.
The return message was error could not find module source directory
/usr/src/psb-kernel-soruce-4.41.1 does not exist.
I got this when I booted 15 in low graphics mode. Odd thing happened; now 14 does not work either. Luckly 13 is still going strong so I am still OK with 13 and XP. Thanks for your efforts in trying to help. I know you must be getting tired of fixing everyones system. I have not given up on 9.04 on the 1010; but I think if I ever get 15 working I am going to disable updates until Ubuntu does something to get help for 1010 owners. They should put the 8.04 that Dell puts on the 1010 up on Ubuntu's site for downloading. It might not be as good; but it is stable and dosen't go south for the winter every time you get a update. Thanks again. fdalbor

I tried the reinstall command and I got errors after the remove was done and it tried to reinstall it. Sooooo, I did a "sudo aptitude remove psb-kernel-source" and when that was done I did a "sudo apt-get install psb-kernel-source". Then I rebooted and everything worked. Thanks for the help everyone....
