Default Contemplating buying mini 10, weighing options - 08-17-2009, 08:02 PM

So I'm in the market for a netbook and I really like the mini 10. Now I'm having to decide what features I want and what I am willing to pay. My basic question is whether the Mini 10 functions well with just 1 gigabyte of RAM. It seems that in order to get the higher resolution and 2 gigabytes of RAM I'll be paying upwards of $500, and I'm not sure it's worth it at that point.

I'm planning on using my laptop for non-memory intensive things - playing music, taking notes, etc. - and not for things like editing movies and pictures. I don't want to skimp on something that I'll definitely notice though. Suggestions?

For the things you listed you will have no problems with the 1meg limit of the 1010. (Of course you can get 2megs). I use my 1010 at work to process pretty large spreadsheets and have had no problems with the ram usage or the fact that it is limited to 1028X768 graphics mode. I duel boot it with XP and 9.04 and use Open Office in my work. Even though most of the spreadsheets were written with Excell.
It is a very good online system and I use it as much as my Compaq R4000 to access the internet. Our intranet runs through the internet and we have to do quite a bit of data transfer over the intranet (internet). Though I am not a big Dell fan I think its a good system for your intended usages. fdalbor
