Smile GMA 500 Driver 3.0.2.32X out now - 08-14-2009, 05:11 AM

Hi Folks,

i found a actual Video driver for the Inspiron 1010 on the Intel Homepage. It is the version 3.0.2.32X you will find it when you open the Intel Page -> Downloads -> int the Search Mask put in GMA 500. The driver for the Atom is the right one.

Greetings from Switzerland

They have released new drivers for both XP and Vista (which I guess would also work on W7).

XP: 3.0.2.32X released 10 August (driver version 6.14.11.1012)

Vista: 4.0.2 released 11 August (driver version 7.14.10.1006)

mini 10 (via UK Dell outlet), Z520, 1024x576 , 6-cell, no BT
ordered & installed: BT module, US keyboard

When I go to install it, I get the message that it is older on W7. The one from Win Update is 7.14.10.1092 do you think its still newer anyways?

Don't think the Hulu or youtube HD problems will ever go away, as these both use the main processor, Atoms just aren't powerfull enough for these.

Well at least these new drivers show that intel is still supporting the gma 500 shipset.

If you look at the release notes for the Windows Vista/7 driver, it says there is a known issue with "Tearing and frame drops when playing video with YouTube" and "Hulu" which makes me think that it can be fixed. It shouldn't take too much extra processing to rescale the video to full-screen; it's not higher quality, just larger.

I used to have this problem. It was fixed after I installed the .1005 driver and still works fine with the .1006 driver. I also changed to use the Aero Basic theme turning off Desktop Composition. Doing one or both of these should fix this.

Yes I have this problem on both a Mini 10 and 12 with the Windows 7 RTM installation - I just selected the Windows Basic theme for the moment. I haven't tried these latest drivers yet.
