Default Ubuntu flash image - 07-31-2009, 11:40 PM

I converted the ubuntu 9.04 desktop version (not the netbook remix, which was less stable than the i386 version for me ) to a .img format for install from USB thumbdrives. I put it on bittorrent here:

share and share alike, I need seeders!

Default 990m - 08-01-2009, 12:56 AM

it's 990 meg, about the same size as the netbook remix img. The IMG's are bigger than the ISO's generally. I think it's because the system that is used for installing the USB boot system.

Anyway, what I did was follow the existing Ubuntu guides for creating an installable boot image from an ISO, and then I thought, heck, might as well take that resulting bootable thumb drive and make an image out of it.

I did primarily so I could reclaim my thumbdrive back for general purpose storage but still have the image around in case I need it.
