The Above Solution from what I understand is for 2d Only. I will post later with the new Accepted Method for 9.10 Karmic. But it wont be "Much" different than what this How-to has in it.

Ive been outta the loop for a few weeks doing some other development items and I havent had a chance to get a How-To for 9.10.

but 9.10 3d Does in fact work on the GMA 500.

I agree.
With both 9.04 and 9.10 on my mini-10, I've had to look here and on ubuntu dell forums whenever a kernel upgrade comes.

SammyBoy - Your step-by-step guide seems to be very detailed, and sounds like allot have had success with it...do you have one for fixing the screen resolutions under 10.04 (lucid)?? I have not had any luck trying to use your guide under 10.04.

Any updates for 10.04 would be greatly appreciated!

Go to the ubuntu web site and it has a listing of the ways to get GMA500 drivers that allow better screen resolution. The one for 10.04 is a simple two line command line visit to get the drivers to make 10.04 work correctly.
Even I could do it. Be warned however it distroys video playback with any of the normal video players used with 10.04 on a normal system. So there is a trade off. Still it works like a charm; but without normal video playback.

There is a workaround; but it is not very good. And every time you try to install another video playback program besides the workaround it falters and returns errors. Here's hopping they find a way to overcome this. fdalbor

I see that "Xv" video output is listed as broken. But 3D is listed as "Good", so try OpenGL video output. Since "mplayer" makes it easy to change video output methods, I recommend it for testing. "mplayer -vo gl video.avi" will play a video using OpenGL for output.

Also, "mplayer -vo x11 -zoom video.avi" should always work, but it might be ugly and low-performance (I'm guessing this is the workaround you refer to). "-zoom" enables rescaling to fit the screen, which mplayer normally disables when using X11 output for performance reasons. And although X11 output sucks, it should be just as good as video playback with the dumb vesa driver.
