Its not Ubuntu thats not support it, its Intel. No one seems to be able to get Intel to do / release the information they need to build proper drivers for it. (take that for a grain of salt as its what the internet says lol) EDIT by psyopper: moved ppa links inside of [code ] tags to keep them from being manipulated by the link monster Do You have GMA 500 Graphics? Want to run Ubuntu 9.04 Here is a Link on How-To and get the best FrameRate possible and the correct Resolution. Visit my Blog Via Plasma Burn More Updates coming soon to the blog. |

All I have installed is UNR and I can't seem to fine a way to change the repository or add new ones. I can get to the add software part; but where to you go to change it to add new items. I'm sure the answer is right in front of my face; but the UNR launcher screens are pretty confusing. fdalbor |

System -> Administration -> Software Sources ->Third Party Software (tab) Click the Add button and where it says APT Line: enter the first of the two links, completely as shown above. Add again for the second one if you want, but it's not really necessary to install the source code repositories. Click OK and it will go about reloading the package list. Once it's done you can follow the command line instructions above, or add the package through Synaptic Package Manager (a gui tool). |

When you type in a link the forum contacts a service called redirectingat that then looks at the link and posts the link as the title of the web page. The links above are correct, they are displaying incorrectly. I just edited that post to put the links inside the [ code] tags so that they don't get manipulated. The deb lines above now show correctly. You can remove the old ones and add new ones, or just replace them with these. |

| Senior Member Posts: 320 Join Date: May 2009 Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana | I typed in everything and started the update. No problem. Then I ran the install. NOthing but errors. No public key, needs drm to use this driver etc, etc. Then I remembered what someone had said about doing all the updates for the whole system to make it work. Sure enough after I had installed all the new updates everything works like it should. Not only is the display correct; its much faster. You can tell its a krug as you can only choose 1024 X 576 but that is what the screen was designed to to run at anyway. At least Now I have a duel boot system (XP and 9.04) and both can be used. When October comes along and 9.10 comes out with full GMA 500 support things will get even better. But for now, hey, this is alright. I would like to thank all the people who took the time to provide me with hints and links and everything else to make it work. It was worth the effort. The mini 1010 is my computer now. Thanks guys, fdalbor |
