You are most welcome! OSX should not be an arduous install, especially if you're installing Snow Leopard.

I was nervous making this BIOS update with the warning about the mini10v becoming a doorstop, but I did it and it worked well. Thanks - I was looking for the modifiers which would force the file to execute and downgrade.

Im not able to go through the first step. I ran HPUSBFW then selected fat32 then selected create a DOS startup disk Using dos files located at...my flash drives location in which i put R225278.exe ...when i press start it says "There is no valid DOS system files at the specified locaton.

P.s.: I unzipped USBDOS on the desktop in a new folder..
I tried it with two flash drives..where am i going wrong?

You need to set the "Using DOS files from" option to point to one of the sub-folders in the zipfile (now unzipped). From memory, they're called WINME and MSDOS or something.

I used this method step by step on my Mini 10v, which shipped with Bios A06. After following this method to revert back to A04, I used the windows bios update to A05.

Is this still the best method to downgrade one's bios? I know how quickly previous installation instructions become obsolete around here.

I believe it is =) I am about to do it now, I'll update my status.

Also, given the fact that you can install Snow Leopard on the Mini 10v without downgrading the BIOS by connecting it externally to a MAC, I would assume you can safely upgrade your BIOS back to A06 after the install. However, I see no real reason for doing so. =)

It completed successfully. It definitely beeps a lot, but I pressed F2 upon reboot and it lists A04 as the current BIOS.

Okay, I'm sure this will seem like a *really* stupid question - but how do you boot from the USB? I followed the instructions to make the USB bootable, removed it from the Mini, then I shut down the Mini.

I put the USB stick in the port, then turned on the computer, and it booted to XP as usual. Do I need to hold down F2 or F8 or something?

This probably seems really dense to you guys, but I'm not a geek!
