Hey Y'all...running thru a hackintosh of a 10v and cannot, for the life of me, get the bios downgrade to run. It boots from the 16gb thumb-drive no problem but when I try and run the DELL executable file I get the same "Bad command or file name". ?!?!? If it boots from the USB I must have gotten that part right. I came across mutiple names in a few forums that named the DELL file different names..."R225278.exe" or "biosupd.exe". I guess where the snag is happening is between downloading the DELL app from the web, renaming it and getting the XP 10V to recognize it upon boot from USB. I've tried renaming, and even keeping the name the same. Any suggestions?

<UPDATE> I was able to track down the "R225278.exe" file externally to any of the links on this site. The site looks reputable but I was wondering if anyone can direct me to where that file *SHOULD* be. I cannot find it anywhere on this site or on the DELL support site. I suspect that all that the DELL site is supposed to give me is the manager but NOT the executable file itself. Can any throw me a bone here? I wanna run the file that I have that on hand here but am not sure if I can rely on its authenticity. Thanks in advance!!

Hello all... now that NBI 8.3 is out with support for bios A06, I'd like to upgrade. Can I use this method with the A06 installer?

No, because the A06 installer isnt a dos file. Its for Windows.

Under Windows you can run it and then it works

Basically your saying if you have a dual boot, with W7 on the other partition you can update your bios? This is the only way?

You can search google for wince and winpe,

thats windows versions you can download and build an bootable usb stick with that.

once you ve booted into windows live (without installing) you can run the bios upgrade from dell on another stick.

e voila your back on a06
