I don't have a mac, so will that program that emulates the mac file system on windows will it work on the mini 10v or is it just for mini 9. (aimed at reydemia but other answers welcome to, and if so can i have the name of the program. (i forgot the name sorry)

and does the tweak to resize to large app work?

does the the suite of mini drivers (so u don't have to rely on bootloader anymore) work and if so what OS should i install them on 10.5.6, 10.5.7,or 10.5.8

I'm trying this guide now on a new 1.66Ghz Mini 10v. Just upgraded to 2GB Kingston RAM. A06 bios and imaging my retail 10.5.6 onto a 80GB external HDD. Wish me luck.

Looks like it's not my day. The install disk loads up and spits out some gibberish, beeps 3 times and nothing… Will try with another USB drive. Guessing it doesn't work with an external IDE/USB casing?

In the "archive.zip" file you downloaded from that link, there is a file simply called "Boot" there is no extension, just boot. Take that file and drag it into your HDD icon on your desktop. It will ask if you wish to overwrite/replace the existing file and be sure you say yes or replace or whatever it says. Then restart.

As I mentioned in the guide, the A06 BIOS may be the root of your problems. First try adjusting you BIOS settings, see step 2. Then try the install again. The fact that it is an external HDD should not matter, because that is in fact what I used to create this guide. If after changing your BIOS settings and attempting to remake the install USB the install still does not work, then you will need to rollback your BIOS to an earlier version and try again.

Truthfully, if you just mess around with settings and try persistently you should hopefully get lucky and be able to get past that odd hump. From then on out its all smooth sailing!

Thanks! I will attempt this again tonight. I just got a Kingmax 8GB flash drive (the thing is tiny!). Hopefully I'll have some good news to report then. Cheers and thanks for the awesome guide!

Oh yeah, and one thing i did stupidly in my first attempt was to copy over files (the combo updater and DellEFI) into the Extra Install folder in the OSXDVD disk image after I ran NetBookInstaller on it. Trying to load that just gave me a blank screen and a single type cursor—In case anyone's thinking of doing that. FML.

Also I'm wondering, does it matter if you select "Erase destination" when you do the image restore? What I noticed is when checked, the image gets renamed to "Mac OS X Install…" (same name as the DVD). When unchecked the image name stays the same "OSXDVD".

Ya, now that you have the 8GB drive, you can set it up as the installer USB, and use your HDD to carry all of the extra apps and updates over to avoid any mixups.

Its can't hurt if you leave it unchecked, so just leave it alone.
