2. When you boot up, hit F2 (or F12) at the Dell Splash screen to enter setup. You can find out BIOS information from there. [sorry I do not remember if it is F2 or F12... one is to enter setup and one is for boot options]

| hey guys, i'm about to try this method for installing mac, but i have a few questions about it, since i haven't had much success with other guides or whatnot. i'm sorry if these has been answered already, but i haven't found a clear answer in the forums yet. 1. - How do i check the version of a 10.5 Leopard retail disk (the updates in the list say "for 10.5.5 / for 10.5.6")? - do i need to download both updates then? 2. - after finishing the method, how smoothly is it going to be, if i'm upgrading to Snow Leopard? - would it be simply inserting the retail disk and following through the steps? - or do i need to find new kexts or files even after i upgrade? thank you so much.

| I do not mean any disrespect to the OP of this guide, but this method is fairly deprecated. There are more current and appropriate methods for installing OSX that should be followed. Using this method makes updating in the future a tad more difficult, but still possible.

| I'm trying to get through step 4. " -Once in safe mode, run the DellEFI for 10v app with these settings checked:" I'm getting this error though: "You can't open the application "DellEFI for 10v" because it is not supported on this architecture." Any ideas? ![]() EDIT: BEWARE! Step 4 completely borked my install. I can't get safe mode or otherwise to boot whatsoever. All I get is that messed up screen. Back to square one.... ![]() |

| This is what I would refer to as the "current" official method. I was contacted a couple of times after my last post about this. http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/gene...-official.html

| I recently purchased the 10v and wants to install OSX. Reading through the first step I noticed that I'll need a mac to get things started. Well, the problem is that I don't have one available. Any work around this issue? I appreciate the help. Thanks. |

| Do a search on Google for a program called Transmac, there is a free trial available. It allows you to read and write to OSX drives as well as create and restore OSX disk images. This is what I used to create a version of my OSX Install DVD on an external drive.

What did you do to fix the messed up screen? Did you need to start over and reinstall or something else? ---------- Post added at 08:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:09 PM ---------- Never mind, I got it working (so far). |
