The problem is not WWAN, just 802.11. If you didn't actually edit the HDA out of whitelist, maybe I'll try that to see if that works. I'll delete the HDA and replace with voodoo, but not edit the whitelist.

Ok, I got it. I deleted the HDA inserted voodoo, and re-ran UpdateExtra. That did the trick! So now it stays on, and I have wifi. It's crackly, so I'm moving onto the next step to remedy the crackle. Thanks for the help.

Great guide. Really appreciated not having to track down all the little tweaks and fixes myself after 10.5.7 was installed.

Update: just ran the apple software update and now can't boot. I get the grey screen with the apple logo but no spinny thingy. can't boot in safe mode either. is there any way to boot without having to reinstall from scratch?

Update 2: i guess sometimes you just have to walk away -- booted up after all.

Happened to me as well after updates... Don't know why it happens, but powering down, walking away for a few minutes, and coming back made it work for me.

Day 1.5, and everything seems to be working but sound.
I followed the steps above with the exception of:

7. Once you do that, you will need to exit the kext white list in /Extra/UpdateExtra.app/Contents/Resources/kext_whitelist and remove AppleHDA from the list.

I can't seem to find the AppleHDA file.

Anyone have any preferred settings to get the 2 finger scroll to work correctly? It is real flakey here. I mean, its a start but not as smooth as I would like it. Sometimes it works, but then other times it doesn't. And what is the horizontal scrolling? I guess I need a guide to the scrolling options. Must quit comparing my MBP to the mini!
