Default Wireless card question - 06-23-2009, 03:32 AM

I ordered my 2100 with the Intel WiFi 5300 card installed. Now that I have Win XP up and running, Hardware Manager tells me I have a Dell Wireless 1510 card installed. The difference in price was $25, so I'd like to have the card I ordered. Is this a big deal? The only real difference in the cards is something about Peak Data rate being higher with the 5300, but it looks like that only applies in 802.11n mode, which honestly I doubt I'll ever see.

I guess I'll try to contact Dell, see if they're ship me the correct card, I'm very capable of swapping it myself (already had to do the hard drive).

Yeah, they screwed up mine as well. I ordered an Intel 5100, but they shipped me a BCM4322 ABGN (I think that's the same card as what you have, maybe not though). I called up and they shipped me the correct card. It arrived the next day.

It was the same with me. I've got the 5100 but ordered the 5300. Dell sent me the correct card after calling.

My problem now is: The 5300 can handle three antennas, the 5100 only two. And my L2100 has only two antennas...

KLF, if you contact DELL, could you please ask, if they would send you a third antenna?
