Default Can i install larger hard drive? - 03-03-2010, 01:33 PM

Hi All, I have a 16gb static hard drive on my 2100, can I remove this and install a normal larger hard drive?
If so how big and what are the part numbers.

Thanks

I see someone else has fitted a 250gb sata 2.5" hard drive and have mailed him for part number.

Unless anyone else knows it?

I believe the Latitude 2100 uses normal laptop sized (9.5mm tall) 2.5" SATA drives, like 98% of laptops. And I think they get as big as 640GB.

Yup.

see my sig ?

I love it too. Dont waste your time on a slow HDD, go right for 7,200 rpm and get what you can afford. It makes the netbook a bit more quicker feeling.

this is what I bought exactly:
Newegg.com - Western Digital Scorpio Black WD3200BEKT 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive

--XPS m1210 | black | T5600 | momentus 500gb 7.2k | 4 gb | 256mb nVidia | 7 ultimate 32 bit DAILY DRIVER

I just want to make sure I'm clear on this - does the 2100 with a 16GB SSD include the hardware to install a normal 2.5" SATA laptop hard drive?

I've been looking everywhere online for definitive information on this and haven't found anything. Thanks!

Yes, it does. Mine came with a 16gb SSD and I was able to swap in a 160gb HDD using the brackets and screws already found in the 2100.
