Default 2GB Upgrade Memory list - 02-26-2010, 09:48 PM

OK ive just got myself a latitude 2100 and would really love to have this with 3GB's of RAM, before i purchased it i did read online several post of people claiming to have successfully upgraded with a 2GB stick but now for the life of me cannot find it again! Anyway i have already tried 3 different 2GB sticks myself and thought maybe its a good idea to start a thread for the sticks that have been tried and DONT work, this may save someone wasting there money and help us find the sticks that do. Below i have listed the memory as brand, model and timings. Please feel free to add the RAM you have tried.

Samsung 2GB 2Rx8 PC2 6400S 666-12-E3 No Boot
Geil GX2S6400 2GB PC2 6400 CL 5-5-5-15 No Boot
Crucial CT25664AC800 2GB PC2 6400 CL6 No Boot

I would also like to add that i upgraded the BIOS from a02 to a04 which was also "No boot"

Shack no none of them worked, the idea is to stop people from buying them and hopefully buy another brand until we find one that works, i have read some where people have done it and if i get the chance this weekend will see if i can find it again........

Default 3gb? - 02-27-2010, 12:39 AM

The only post I remember, the person claimed to have put a 2gb chip in one that only had 512mb installed from Dell. They claimed it registered 2.5gb in Windows. I was going to try it on my 512mb Lat. 2100. But I really don't believe it will make any difference, so I installed 1gb chip to boost it up to 1.5gb. Which I think is plenty for a netbook. My opinion.
