Default Enable Fast Boot after ram upgrade - 11-12-2009, 11:34 PM

Well I got my 2100 2 weeks ago, it's been nice, and I added 1gig, making it 2gigs. Works like a charm, however the boot seems to take 30s extra. (flashing cursor, before win xp boot).

I've been told that this is because my ram has changed and it now goes thru, thourgh boot process instead of fast boot.

So my question is how to I re-enable fast boot or change the the bios to know that 2gigs is fine.

(i press f12 or f2, brings me to the same screen).

Is there some special key to bring me to a special bios section?

Yes this does make a difference, I even went to uninstall the 1gig of ram(not easy, remove 2 screws near battery, then flip over pop off keyboard, remove 3 screws, then flip again and remove the 4 outer screws) and it booted in 10s (i have the ssd).

So yeah! i just want my boot speed back, thanks.

My 2100 came with 2 gigs of ram and does not have an SSD. Pressing the F2 key as soon as you see the DELL screen after powering up should take you directly into the BIOS setup and pressing F12 displays the boot options screen. Are you saying that pressing F2 on your 2100 takes you to the boot options screen?

yes,

f2 and f12 seem to work the same, unless i'm viewing something entirely different. both bring me to a limited bios.

The F2 and F12 options look completely different on my 2100. I don't know what could be different unless you have a different BIOS version.

That is not right. For some reason you are not able to get to the BIOS.
