In many cases, I have found parts not availible by themselves, but only as a kit, and then only after much effort to get the right part. IMPORTANT: The service manual makes absolutely no mention of the touch screen, touch screen controller, or interal camera. None. The camera is attached to the display LED board at the top of the screen, which gives you that flashing white light when you're using the network. The touchscreen controller is directly under the screen bezel at the bottom, attached to the back of part W636N, with a cable following the cable channel for the wireless card down to a point on the system board between the ethernet and USB ports and the wireless card socket. 1GB RAM System board kit: (Note: The 1GB of RAM is soldered to the board. Did not come with thermal paste in my case, even though one component had paste on it. I ended up buying my own.) 1 PM2H2 Service Kit,Printed Wiring Assy,Planar (motherboard),1G Notebook,LAT2100 $364.99 Touch screen kit: (Note: DOES NOT include Touch Screen Controller. This is the complete 1024x576 display with the touchscreen overlay, but no display cable so you must use the existing one.) 1 H197P Liquid Crystal Display 10.1WSVGA,Anti Glare,Touch Screen,Legend $164.99 Touch screen controller and cable kit: 1 FHWMH Service Kit,Assembly,Card,Controller,Touch Screen,LAT2100 $24.99 Screen Bezel with hole for camera, and touch screen controller mount: (Note: came with speakers attached, did not come with touch screen controller. Can someone check their non-touchscreen 2100 to see if there is a mounting screw hole near the bottom right of the display for a touchscreen controller? Will take pictures of mine when possible.) 1 C231P Bezel,Liquid Crystal Display Plastic,W/CMRA,Touch Screen L2100 $9.99 Top casing on display: (Note: Outside, with Dell logo, blue.) 1 W636N Assembly,Cover,Liquid Crystal Display,Blue,Touch Screen LAT2100 $37.99 Rubber feet for the screen when closed: 12 F189P Bumper,Liquid Crystal Display Rubber,Notebook,LAT2100 $1.99 Total Parts List when the laptop was ordered: (Note: I get a 7% discount through my University, and these prices reflect that discount. This is the UBUNTU LINUX version of the netbook.) 1 224-6302 Latitude 2100n $459.44 1 317-1187 Latitude 2100, Intel Atom N270(1.60GHz,533Mhz FSB,512K cach e) 1.0GB int memory, Blue Ribbon $0.00 1 330-4045 Documentation for Latitude 2100, English $0.00 1 330-4046 Internal English Keyboard for Latitude 2100 $0.00 1 320-0766 Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, Latitude 2100 $0.00 1 341-0022 16GB Dell Mobility Solid StateDrive for Latitude 2100 $0.00 1 320-0782 10.1 inch WSVGA bezel, touchscreen, w/ Integrated Camera andMic, Latitude 2100 $0.00 1 320-0788 Blue Ribbon 10.1inch WXVGA Touchscreen LED Display, Latitude2100 $0.00 1 320-0792 10.1inch WSVGA Touchscreen LEDDisplay, Latitude 2100 $0.00 1 420-8666 Dell Webcam Central Software for Dell Latitude/Mobile Precision $0.00 1 421-0761 Linux Ubuntu 8.10 for Latitude $0.00 1 430-0599 Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth 2.1 Minicard for Latitude 2100 $0.00 1 330-4310 65W 3-pin AC Adapter for Latitude 2100 $0.00 1 330-4352 US - 3-FT/Flat Power Cord 3-Pin, for Latitude 2100 $0.00 1 430-0603 Intel WiFi Link 5100 (802.11 a/g/n 1X2) 1/2 MiniCard for Latitude 2100 $0.00 1 330-4052 Resource DVD with diags and drivers for Latitude 2100 $0.00 1 312-0131 3 Cell Primary Battery, Latitude 2100 $0.00 1 994-6447 Dell Hardware Limited Warranty Plus Return To Depot, Initial Year $0.00 1 994-1740 Contract - Mail-In Service, 24x7 Technical Support, Initial Year $0.00 1 988-6059 No Warranty 2 and 3 $0.00 1 900-9987 Standard On-Site Installation Declined $0.00 1 466-8200 Thanks for supporting reforestation to offset carbonemissions Client Notebook $2 (System Discount May Apply) $1.84 Sub-Total : $461.28 Shipping : $34.99 Tax : $29.67 Order Total : $525.94 On a side note, all of the parts listed below were sent to me by dell after my touchscreen stopped working. I recieved TWO motherboards in the process. The offending part in the end? The touch screen controller and cable kit, FHWMH. I also used some rubber feet. That controller was the first thing I asked to have replaced, and I actually recieved last (with the second motherboard), in my second service request after they sent me the first motherboard, new display, and new case for the display. All dates that follow or in US Format (mm/dd/yyyy) I first purchased the laptop on 5/22/2009. It arrived 6/2/2009 with the incorrect wireless card. I called for the correct wireless card on 6/11/2009 and it arrived on 6/12/2009. I called about the problem with my touchscreen on 9/2/2009, and recieved the first batch of (wrong) parts on 9/4/2009. I ordered the correct part (the controller) on 9/7/2009, and recieved the second motherboard 9/9/2009. After facepalming, I checked my order noticed that, while the touchscreen controller was ON the order, it had not shipped. It continued to not ship until 9/17/2009. It was delievered on 9/18/2009. Please bear in mind, I have not paid anything other than the initial laptop purchase because the repair was under warranty. I simply stated that I was a Dell certified tech (which I am) and wanted to do the repairs on my own. Total cost of the laptop minus shipping and "Plant a tree for me": $459.44 Total parts value shipped to me according to Dell: $969.93. Total parts value that I actually needed: $26.98. Folks, I would LOVE if we had part numbers from Black, Blue, Red, and Yellow builds. A Blue w/o touchscreen would be nice to see if the parts are different between touch and non touch models. The colors would be handy for conversions (I want to make my Blue Ribbon 2100 a Chalkboard Black 2100). If the part numbers between the non-touchscreen and touchscreen 2100s are the same except for the touch controller and the screen itself, converting to a touchscreen would only cost $200, minus however much you sold the original screen for. Lets do it people! Latitude 2100 (Blue Ribbon) w/Touchscreen and WiFi Link 5100 AGN Want Ubuntu on your 2100? Get your sound and touchscreen working! Tech blog: Broken Hive Mind |

Make sure if you decide to retrofit that you get both the touchscreen itself AND the touchscreen controller part numbers! It took me AGES to get the right bits from Dell to get mine repaired! You can replace it with any SATA laptop drive currently made, as far as I can tell. They max out at 500 to 750gb iirc. I personally bought an OCZ 64GB SSD and am quite happy with it.
