Hi,

I want to dual boot on the said notebook with windows and ubuntu. Is it possible ?

Yes, just make sure you install Windows first. Ubuntu is more sensitive to other operating systems, whereas Windows will total your Ubuntu if done second.

May I recommend Lubuntu, a new low-power offshoot but very much in the style of a Windows look and feel, but is running the LXDE desktop manager. (http://lxde.org/)
