Pre-purchase Questions - 10-11-2011, 03:25 AM
Hello, I am looking for Windows OS tablet, similar in size to the iPad 2 my wife has. I however, require Flash and Internet Explorer or FireFox for a college course I am taking. Android is not an option because, like the iPad, the web browser is detected as a mobile device.
I have read a bit about the Iconia and Viewsonic tablets, but the lack of keyboard is frustrating. Also would love, but can't afford the Acer ICONIA-6120 Dual-Screen Touchbook, but the $1200 price tag is more that a little daunting. but man, it sure is NICE LOOKING!

As a compromise between price, performance, and function, I am considering a Dell Inspiron Duo, but am a little concerned about the power of the machine.
I would like to know if anyone has checked to see what the max amount of memory available on this device is. It can be easily checked using SIW (System Information for Windows).
Check how much RAM/Memory your system supports ?
Also, would like to know if anyone has had a chance to compare the different processors.
Looking around I found a refurbished model from Geeks.com that is a little cheaper.
Dell Inspiron duo Atom N550 1.5GHz 2GB 320GB 10.1" Touchscreen Convertible Tablet W7HP w/Webcam & Bluetooth 3.0 (Black) Dell INSPIRON duo
It is $399 while the one from Dell.com is $499.
the only difference I can see is the processor.
Geeks: Intel Atom N550 1.5 GHz CPU
Dell: Intel® Atom® Dual Core Processor N570 (1.6GHz, 512K L2 Cache)
On the Dell site, there is no option to customize the memory or hard drive, I was wanting to go with an SSD, but the 7200RPM drive should be fine.
Would I see much difference going from the N550 to the N570? I know for the SSD it would depend on the model as I have seen some that didn't perform as quickly as a 5400rpm drive.
