Default buying ebooks on the Duo - 05-10-2011, 11:43 AM

This may be a silly question, but I'm still new to all these gadgets. Bought a used Nook from a friend that has about 80 books on it so still reading these and haven't set up my own account with Barnes & Noble to sync with my Nook because it'll delete the books on it.

Bought my first book on the Duo.

So, my big question is can I just go to any site that offers e-books and buy a book and they'll be readable? Heard about a site called Open Roads this a.m. on NPR.

Someone in one of these Forums mentioned they installed Barnes & Noble software to read books, but why would you have to do that - is it required to read any ebooks purchased through Barnes & Noble?

Still trying to get my head around the various possibilities. Thanks.

I use the Kindle App (granted, I ahve a kindle also, so I rarely read on the Duo, given it's battery life anyway)
