here are my 20 cents ...
I played a lot with android x86,jolicloud and ubuntu, its great to be able to install all of them into a usb stick and play.I recommend using virtual box and install the image to your usb ,so you dont need to be in LIVE mode and only will need one stick
Unfortunately none of them feel finished as a tablet .Android x86 is in very early stages, many apps optimized for ARM wont install in x86,pinch to zoom is buggy and only works in the gallery app,vga drivers are slow and unfinished(no opengl2 so no live wallpapers) youtube is almost a slideshow,no flash,no proper contrls for screen brightness rotation and audio, browser feels sluggish compared to opera in win7,etc....
Jolicloud is fun,but no multitouch and no broadcom HD acceleration, youtube and video playback not as good as win7
Still Win 7 has lots of potential and after playing with different browsers and settings everithing is working great
here is what i did:
I turned AERO off.
dont bother with IE 8-9 beta or ,unfortunately, firefox (3.6 and beta 4),they are way too choppy
for flash video content, most of the browsers play good in windows mode but slow in full screen.
Install chrome 9 beta the latest one,it plays h264 Flash video in full screen smooth(finally!),even 1080p .Chrome touch extension is a must for browsing in tablet mode with it ,and for the bug with the double back/forw flicks just edit your flick to keyboard shortcuts and it will work great.
for a very close ipad smooth srolling experience ,Opera 11 is the fastest and closest i found, but the hand button doesnt support at this point kinectic scroll so i finish flicking the pages quite often.Still the browsing experience is smooth as in my android phone, even with flash content and pages fly while loading.
Pinch to zoom is a pain with any browser ,somehow they slow too much when you zoom in.Again opera is the fastest here,My solution for this are the flicks,i have a right-down diagonal flick that resets the zoom to 100 in the browser, this way when i need to zoom i simply pinch with 2 fingers and once im done reading content i just flick back .I works
So flicks are VERY powerful in win 7, at the moment i have setup flicks for: Full screen,New tab,Close tab, zoom 100,scrolll up/down.They work and change the perception of win 7 to a much better touch OS experience.Use them.
Finally , local media, plays silk smooth in full screen at 1080p even my DSLR video footage which wont playback smooth in my core2duo Mac plays great in the little dell!
hope it helps.
