I know this doesn't help the current design issues but you know how crazy the hackers and modders got with the Mini 9. I'm sure someone will find a place to stick an adapter for either VGA or Display Port or maybe even HDMI in the Dock itself. Seems like a perfect mod to me. The only thing I wish the Duo had was USB 3.0. I had an XPS 15 on order till Dell took almost two months to finaly tell me that the Ultimate wireless card was nolonger available. They could have told me that a month ago. I canceled the order and just now placed one for the Duo. I wanted the XPS for the USB 3.0. I rip movies and would like to transfer movies back and forth with a Seagate external that's USB 3.0 with my HTPC which is USB 3.0. I'm still waiting for a decent Laptop to come out that looks good with the 3.0 USB standard.

You'd somehow have to add all sorts of connections to the chipset to make that work - it's MUCH harder than just adding a USB port.
Even an iPhone has video out available.

Seems to me it would be as easy as taking a USB adapter and hard wireing it to one of the USB ports in the Dock and then mounting the Display port whatever it may be to the dock. I don't know how much space is available inside but it seems doable. Maybe Dell will make a version 2 of the Dock with a few display options. Optical audio would be nice as well. I'm sure Dell already had plans to milk this for all it's worth with incremental releases based on the overall success of the Duo.

Somewhat OT, but does anyone know if the Audio Station is still available through the Microsoft store? I just did a search but only came up with the Duo itself. I'm hoping to order my Duo soon since Dell is starting to make more options available, but I was hoping that I'd still be able to pick up the dock from MS for 50% off. :-/
If it's not available anymore from MS, I'll probably just skip it for now. It doesn't seem all that useful for my purposes without VGA or HDMI.

Video out is possible - 03-07-2011, 10:10 PM
Know this is a bit of a late reply, but still useful for reference:
When I ordered mine, I added this to the order:
(Kensington USB to DVI/VGA)
This enables your duo to do video-out: you can connect it to the USB port on the side and you can now output to a projector or TV.
Seems slightly sluggish sometimes but you can lower the quality slightly to make it faster. I only really use it for PowerPoints anyway so doesn't bother me.

Planning to buy Audio Station for my Duo - pls help - 07-08-2011, 07:00 PM
I am a happy owner of Dell Inspirion Duo and I am going to buy an Audio Station. I am going to order from amazon.com and want it to be shipped to Europe, as they are much cheaper in the US.
As a friend of mine also want to have such a device, we will order two pieces- and ship them together. I wanted to calculate the price of shipping them by a cargo company - but I need to have dimensions of the parcel. I have written to the seller but I haven't got the answer. So, I don't know if I should send them to Europe by post or by cargo.
Could anybody be so nice, and measure the box in that Dell sells the audio station. Thank you very much
