Default Win 7 Premium Upgrade on 11z - 11-09-2009, 11:21 PM

Well, it's been 3 days since I've upgraded my 11z from Vista Home Premium to Win 7 Home Premium. In terms of overall ease and use, it went without any major hitches. The only things I note are:

1. The Windows Index went from 3.2 under Vista to 2.7 under Win 7. Mainly on the CPU rating (I have the Celeron version). I hope some optimization will come around.

2. Under Vista, I was able to hook up the 11z to my LCD TV using HDMI and got both video and audio to work. Now under 7, I only seem to get the video to work. I click on the sound devices but it only lists the laptop's speakers, no HDMI device. Sigh.

It's kind of odd, when I upgraded both my kids laptops (Toshiba and Acer), it improved the system overall.

Did you install the latest Intel chipset and video drivers?

And the index scale in 7 is different from the one in Vista.

The Windows 7 Experience Index caps at 7.9 now, instead of 6.0 for Vista. So you didn't "lose" any performance there; just that they raised it to incorporate higher speed technology in the index.

Cheers,
Charlie
