Guys, in my opinion, Windows 7 is just a Windows Vista SP3. They are based on the same kernel, architecture, etc. In my personal opinion, it was just a marketing scheme (and a good one at that) because Vista had such a bad name. I use Vista on my desktop, laptop, and now my 11z and it works great. Yes, it was very hard for me, just like it is for you guys. I'm sure once you give it a shot you'll see the pluses outweigh the minuses ten fold. And i leave my desktop on for months on end running Vista. Only time I restart usually is when I have to. It's about 50 times better than XP, IF you have the horsepower to run it and the 11z just barely pulls it off. That's where windows 7 comes in is the horsepower problem vista has. I may be a noob to these forums but I'm an expert IT in real life (Just downloaded 3dmark Vantage for my 11z to get benchmarks, and it doesn't work in XP anymore for a good reason). Not trying to push it on you or pick a fight or anything, but really, XP isn't better in my opinion. And the things that I really liked about XP, didn't make it THAT much better than Vista. At least now you don't even have to use it, can just bypass to Windows 7.
In the end, at least you got your problem fixed. I wonder what it was. The no booting part and not being able to run hardware tests sounds like motherboard. If you were able to get into bios, then I would bet it was hard drive.
