I have the 9 and have been 80% satisfied with my refurb 16gb stec ssd, 2gb ram (my upgrade), bt model. I have been coveting a larger screen for my wife (she would like the larger keyboard too, but I have no problems with touch typing on it....I have fat stubby non dexterous fingers). Maybe Jefferyscott and I can trade.

I would need a SSD....fast, and I don't like that the 9 has been limited to the runcore and also rans....(I am looking forward to benchmarks on the new doublewide supertalents people). I have reinstalled xp to eliminate bloatware along with everything my wife and I use, and still have 10gb left on my 16gb....(without using the SD card). I don't use the track pad much, and prefer a mouse anyway....

The 9 doesn't play high end video well, and that could always be better (10 and 10v I understand have major problems as well, but am not certain if better or worse than 9). I am no HD snob, but videos peg the processor and don't run smoothly.

With the 9 being discontinued would it be better to get a refurbed 9 or get a 10v? Would the extra $50 or so be worth the extra features. This would be my first netbook btw.

It might be, depending on what you want out of your netbook and what your comfortable looking at and typing on.

Go to best buy or wall mart and look for a mini 10 to put your hands on... then imagine an even smaller keyboard. One weekend getting used to the mini9 keyboard and now I can touch-type like crazy on it.

I wanted to try a 10v, but I have about 550 bucks tied into this 9 already.

i really do enjoy my 9, i like the build quality, the size....and dont want one any bigger....love being able to just drop it in my bag and it takes up almost no space. the keyboard is no problem except the darn ' key throws me still, and love the modibility options. i know some dont like vista, but i really enjoy that on here as well. i have 15.7 g of the 30 on my runcore, and keep most programs/downloads on my sd card as much as i can, and that works well. If i ever do run out of space, i just got an excuse to mod it more. That said, i dont watch enuff hd video to experience this issue, but need to try it out and see what happens.

the down side is i dont like the stock drives, so theres another excuse to mod to what i wanted.

i dont have any experience with the 10/10v....so my opionions arent worth anything there.

i feel that their gonna have to come out with a unit that is no bigger then the 9 and has all its positives, is as moddable to what i feel like doing to it at the time, and price is the same (cause i know ill dump a bunch more cash in it doing what i want with it after buying it)....before im interested, and the way things are going, i dont see a 9 inch unit coming out anytime soon.

regardless....i really dig this thing.

hope your all happy with your toys....thats what its about, having a little fun....and in the end, thats all they are is toys....

Every time I look at the ten, I like the keyboard, however, I just love the size of the 9. Higher resolution would be MY #1 wish on the 9.

I bought both the 9 and the 10, chose the 10. The keyboard was a decision maker. Not to mention, I think the 10 is much more aesthetically pleasing overall. The 9 has almost a toy like appearance. A friend of mine loved it so it found a new home, no problem. I really like the trackpad on the 10 too. That being said, most people don't. It might be a deal breaker - depending on whether the keyboard or trackpad is more important to you.

As to the size... I really don't see much difference. The 10 fits nicely into any of my purses. Definitely small & light enough for traveling. The 9's screen was a bit small for my taste.

I think a comparison chart would be pretty neat (even though they are being discontinued).

I bought a 10V for my son, and a 9 for me. Hes running Windows XP, and I am running OSX, we are both pleased! If I had to choose one as a main machine, I would probably go with the 10V running OSX. But since I have another full sized Mac, I am sticking with the 9.

While I loved my 9, I sold it and got a 10v. My eyes are too old for the screen on the 9! I also have large fingers and I sometimes mistype on the 9. I will also enjoy the 320gb hard drive, but I will miss the size and the total silence of the Mini 9.
