Default help with uninstalling of programs - 06-15-2009, 07:07 PM

I was upgrading from a 2gb to 16gb sdhc card and used the hitachi driver to have it appear as fixed. As I attempted to reinstall my Garmin GPS and Quicken programs onto the 16gb card, I am encountering problems with the uninstallation of the programs that were on the 2gb card. I went through the remove programs in the control panel as well as trying Revo Uninstaller. When I put the Quicken disc into the external drive it trys to uninstall but closes saying uninstallation has failed. Is there any around this? Or will I have to re-install XP in my "spare time"? Any help is appreciated...

You can always delete the files manually first and then delete the uninstall lines in add/remove with ccleaner.

Believe it or not, this will remove most of the files, as long as they haven't installed in any directories you're not aware of.

There's more to it than that - if you simply delete the registry entries for add/remove, you leave dangling potentially hundreds of entries that may interfere with future installs.

Thanks to all, the windows install cleanup utility and ccleaner solved the issues. Love my mini!
