Default Which deal did you get on your Dell Mini? - 04-18-2009, 08:35 PM

I've seen alot of people talking about some great deals on Dell Mini's so I thought about creating this thread where we could sort of share the deals we got and where we got them, hopefully this will help someone who's looking for this kind of information.

So I'll get us started

Location: Portugal

The config: Dell Mini 9 - 8GB SSD - 1GB Ram - WinXP - Webcam - BT - Vodafone 7.2Mbps HSPA - 2 Years Warranty

The deal: At Vodafone - 100€ + 18 months contract for 1 service with whatever plan I want as long as at the end of the 18 months I spent at least 150€ on the service.

My Mini 9 (8GB/XP/no webcam or bt) was free with DSL package deal for two-year contract with Frontier.net in upstate N.Y. USA, except for $45 shipping and sales tax. I already had DSL on another line so actually saved $50 a month combining into one/two number line at much better price.

The great thing was that the installer rep brought the Mini 9 with him, so I had mine in under a week doing nothing. It came sealed with Frontier.net as home page (no other bloat thankfully) so must been factory configured that way. I had expected base 4GB Linux model and was pleasantly suprised. Within a week I scored a 32GB Runcore before supply dried up, so I actually received mine one day after Mini 9 arrived. That was an exciting couple days!

Black Mini 9 (free with DSL package) | 2GB Patriot RAM | 32GB RunCore | 16GB Transcend 6 SDHC | TWO internal 16GB microSDHC on USB controller | EETI Touchscreen | Windows XP

$169 minus 15% coupon plus sales tax and free shipping = about $155

That got me a "Scratch & Dent"* Mini 9 from the Dell Outlet. Black, Ubuntu, 512MB RAM, 4GB SSD, no webcam, no Bluetooth, no WWAN or slot, 1 year warranty.

* looks new to me

Mini 9 | Intel 5100 Wifi | Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook
Mini 1012 | SSD | Intel 6200 Wifi | Ubuntu 11.10 64bit

Just got mine today.

Dell Outlet Mini 9 - Black, 4gb ssd, 1gb ram, webcam, and Ubuntu - $189 + tax = $200.34

Then I used a $100 gift card I got off ebay for $80 - 9% from live.com cashback.

Total cost - $173.14 shipped

I ordered mine between the $50 off specials. This particular day the basic purchase included a 3 year warranty and then the add-ons (bluetooth and camera) were cheaper . I think with all of the above it was around $324.

Hi there!

I just got my mini 9 last week from the outlet.
I got the 8GB SSD, 512MB RAM, no camera, no BT, WinXP home.
I already had a 2GB DDR2 simm laying around so the memory didn't really make a difference to me.
I'm working on getting Windows 7 onto it, we'll see how that goes.

I've been pretty happy with it so far, except for the fact that I have big hands so it's sometimes weird to type.
I'll get used to it.

On both of mine I went through the Outlet and got 15% off. One was a little under $200, the other was a little over $200 after taxes. Both were free shipping as well.

I found that the best deal I could get on a new Mini 9 was by googling "Dell Mini 9" and clicking on Dell's sponsored link. That got me an Ubuntu Mini with 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD, 1.3mp Webcam for $384 before tax/shipping. Now if only the damn thing would ship.
