I've finally joined the netbook community, courtesy of my refurbished Dell Mini 9 running Linux. It's only a base model, with 512MB of RAM and a 4GB SSD
, but the price was right ($144 plus sales tax).
I plan to buy 2GB of RAM shortly, since it's a trivially cheap upgrade. A SSD
upgrade will probably wait, since 4GB+SD Cards+USB HDDs is plenty of storage, once you take out the pre-installed software that I won't ever use, like OpenOffice, Totem, Acrobat Reader, ATI graphics drivers (I don't know why these were even there.), Mono, etc.
I look forward to using my Mini extensively as a portable computer, and maybe even as a quiet, power efficient server when paired with a USB HDD.
