Default old iPod as hard drive - 04-01-2009, 02:38 AM

i have an old 40gb iPod laying around and was thinking of using it as an external hd. anyone out there using it? can i atually use it to store my mp3's without itunes overwriting it when it synchs? total noob.

You will need to set your ipod to diskmode in itunes and you will need to eject it every time before unplugging it from your computer.
If you want to use it just to store your files you can create a folder and put your files there, itunes will not mess it up.
I know there is a small java application that lets you manage your music from the ipod itself...
