Default My mini and some questions - 03-16-2009, 05:02 AM

just wondering if my mini was worth the price and had some questions regarding ubuntu


Inspiron Mini 9n: intel atom processor (1.6GHz/533MhzFSB/512K cache)
Operating system:Ubuntu 8.04.1
color: obsidian black
Memory: 2GB DDR2 at 533MHz
Hard drive:64GB SSD
Wireless: Wireless 802.11g Mini card
camera: 1.3 MP
Blue tooth: built in 2.1

total including shipping and external drive: 548.38

good buy?????

and also i've never used ubuntu before and was wondering if i will be able to download my ms office on it or will i have to use open office

You will not be able to use Microsoft Office on Ubuntu. OpenOffice will work.

I have no personal experience with Windows emulators, but I've read from others that they are helpful. I assumed that if one wanted to use Linux that you didn't really want to pretend it was Windows, but I can see the point.

I would say purchase your memory from crucial or newegg. It would save you (I think) $75 over getting it from dell. Also, external drive? What for?
