Default Mini to TV - 03-13-2009, 02:04 AM

:?:
Is the the box I need to connect my Mini to a TV? I'm 99% sure it is, but I want the collective brains on this board to assure me that I'm thinking about this right:

Thanks in advance,

That box should work, although who knows about quality at that price.

You can get an HDMI scaler starting at $100, but the quality is questionable. Personally I would rather buy a Mini 10 on sale.

A scan converter for $26 is going to be really crappy. Plus it's coming from Hong Kong, I don't recommend it.
You can find higher quality scan converters domestically, although the rule with these (as with most everything else) is you get what you pay for. Don't expect very good video quality from an inexpensive one.

Worse than an analog broadcast on a crt-type TV?

Something else to keep in mind, you are only converting video here. Though HDMI in itself transfers audio you will not be able to do that with this unit. Also this is just a converter box (and a cheap one at that) so you will not get any better picture than your standard analog. I personally would just use a vga cable to connect to your tv if your tv supports it. Then you still have to get the output of your audio to something that will boost the volume.

This is just my personal thoughts on the subject. I hope it helps.
