Default I have a WAN slot? - 03-01-2009, 12:45 AM

My new mini 9 has a WAN slot, also the ATT chip. Got a refurb so didn't configure the WAN. How can I use it?

Thanks but I understand about 3G, I just don't know how to use the WAN slot for it. Do I buy a card that fits the slot...do I need to add something else inside to use another source than ATT for 3G?

You say it has the "AT&T" chip, are you sure? Is there a mini-PCIe card in the WWAN slot? (It's the slot below the SSD, lower left corner.)

If you want to go with another provider you would need to procure a different card whose radio is compatible with that provider. AT&T and T-Moble are GSM-based, while Sprint and Verizon user other technology.

Then you don't have to buy the WWAN card - it's already there. You would have to buy service from AT&T if you wanted to use it.
