Default In Production - 02-23-2009, 08:12 PM

So my Mini-9 is "in production," with an estimated ship date of March 5.

I've been using an ASUS EEE 4G Surf with Linux daily since last January and have been quite happy with it. But my wife keeps telling me I should "get something better," with an unspoken, "and give me your old one."

I've never been a Dell fan, mostly because I don't like to always follow the crowd, but when the base price dropped to $249 I reconsidered, then when it was $199 on President's Day, I took the plunge.

I've used my Eee 701, and at work, an Aspire One (XP), Eee 900 (Xandros), and Eee 1000 (XP).

I wonder what I'll love and hate about it. I'm sure I won't miss Xandros, but will I like it? Time will tell.

Dell Mini-9, Red, VGA camera, 8GB SSD, Ubuntu.

My experience with Dell is that once your system is "in production", it will be ready very soon - production usually doesn't take more than two days, and shipping is quite fast too, so you'll most likely have your Mini 9 within a week!

Mine is still "in preproduction"... I'm waiting... :|

At the moment I'm having the same issue. I ordered my mini 9 on 2/11 and it has been in production since 2/12. First ship date was 2/23. Yesterday I got a "delay" notice and it is now scheduled for 3/5. I called just to see what was going on and they informed me that due to popularity they have been flooded with orders. However, they assure me that they will go out on or before 3/5. I guess only time will tell. I've generally been happy with all my purchases from them so i hope this will be the same.

I'm just so impatient because after reading all the great things about the mini on this site i'am just dieing to get my hands on mine.

YAY! My Mini 9 is now also In Production! The expected delivery date is still 3/11, but this means it will probably be here much sooner than that!

Well after my third delay notice I just canceled the new order and placed an order for a scratch and dent with the same config as my new build with the exception of Windows instead of linux. She said it should ship in 24 hours and I will have it by the beginning of next week. Beginning to think I should have taken this route to begin with. The lady I had was extremely nice and worked with me to find a machine that best fit what I wanted. Plus I was able to get it with a better warranty then my initial build for the same overall price.

It arrived yesterday! I'll post my first impressions and questions in another thread. Thanks for helping me wait, I hope the rest of you get yours soon, too.
